So I can’t sleep. It’s amazing how quitting smoking affects you. On one hand I have more energy and feel healthier than I ever have, and on the other… I’m exhausted, can’t sleep and have a nagging cough. Seriously kids, never start. This is a bitch. Cheers.

A long while back, September 22, 2006 as a matter of fact, I read an idiotic blog post that got me so worked up, I had to write a response. Mind you, it was written a while ago, but it seems to be relevant again. Not that it ever actually stopped being relevant, but now more than ever I felt like posting it here…

Hi, I’m a white US citizen and I have a slightly different outlook that I would like to share. Let’s say that you lived in this house, it was cold and foggy, your landlord treated you like crap because he had a twisted distorted idea of how to interpret the bible and he chose to run his property based on those beliefs. Now, it just so happens that your beliefs are pretty messed up too, however, they don’t align with your landlord. Well … you get evicted … and with nowhere to go, you decide to head to the other side of town to this nice big house you heard about and take up residence. However, some others already live there, but you don’t consider that an issue because according to your backwards dogma, they aren’t of the same class of person and can easily be handled. These guys, in your opinion, are morons. They didn’t put any locks on the door and they didn’t even seem to mind that you showed up. You, however can’t stand your new roommates, so you decide to have a big household dinner and poison them. You also introduce them to a bunch of bad habits like drinking, so that they stop acting responsibly and forget to pay their rent. You manage to get them all evicted or at least to move out to the little guest house in the backyard and everything seems to be getting more to your liking. You even start up a homeowners association after convincing everyone that you own the home and start telling all your neighbors how to live. Now don’t get me wrong, life for you in your house is awesome, but for some reason it seems that all your neighbors are getting frustrated with you. The people just to the south, they seem frustrated because it seems that you managed to take up some of their property without their permission, but hey what can they do. You have the biggest house on the block and all the money. Your lawyers are better. They however can’t pay their utilities and are living basically in squalor. Some of them try to move in, but you learned from the previous residents and have put up a big fence and locks on all the doors. But some of your neighbors figured out a way to sneak in without your permission and convinced some of your more opportunistic and lazy roommates give them the jobs that none of you want to do. It’s even to the point now that if they all left, even you wouldn’t know what to do! There would be no more apples or avocados in the fridge, no more clean dishes in the sink, and heaven forbid you might have to cook your own dinner! And what about changing that light bulb in the hallway. What if something breaks? Not to mention that they did all that work for so cheap and all you had to do was give them a closet to live in. If you asked one of your other roommates to do that work they would want like three times as much in return and they would gripe and complain the whole time. Some of them got together before and started up these groups where they demanded all this stuff in return for all their hard work. But now a lot of them are kind of with you and think that these others who got into the house somehow should leave too. You can’t send them to the guest house though, you already sent your old roommates there, the ones who lived here first. Besides, they made that guest house a great place to visit now. They always have games and parties. You are a little upset that you don’t get your cut, but that’s another story altogether. Back to those lousy invaders. You’ve decided to have a meeting of all the roommates, I’m there too (but I don’t feel invited for some reason), to discuss putting up a bigger fence and better locks. “These guys are eating all the food and they are using our utilities and they don’t put in on it!” you say. Someone else says, “But we barely have to give them anything and they do all this work!” You however are still convinced that for some reason, you are preordained to have things your way. You didn’t have to do anything at all to live in the house, Your grandparents actually did all the work, you know, usurping the previous residents, calling them sinners, all that stuff. You just kept the homeowners association going, telling all your neighbors what to do, all the time ignoring your own backyard. But now your paying attention and angry about all the wrong things. Social Security is not going to go away because of illegal residents and if they left this country, the economy would collapse. The amount of money we spend giving them education, employment, and healthcare is pennies compared to how much we spend trying to keep them out and how much it would cost if we succeeded. Don’t be a self righteous trust fund baby and think about your actions. Peace!

Not usually the type to come to celebrity’s defense. I usually don’t care. But feminists bashing on Tina Fey need to check themselves. Tearing down an intelligent, classy, beautiful, successful woman just because you interpret her humor to not run parallel with your values is lame. Hate on people who actually hurt your cause, not one of the best role models for women today.
