YouTube - Air – La Femme D’Argent.
An amazing video exposed to me by my friend Lora. Air’s “Moon Safari” set to footage from a streetcar Traveling down San Francisco’s Market Street in 1905. Very cool to see how that small piece of the world looked back then, before earthquakes and fires… and the soundtrack works great.

by Danny Infinite on Mar.17, 2010, under Culture, Music
Ok, don’t get me wrong, Beyonce is a beautiful and classy woman as well as an extremely talented singer. That being said, “All the Single Ladies” is not a good song. The lyrics are awful, contradictory and the opposite of an “independent woman” song. Plus having a woman married to one of the richest, most influential men in music be the performer of this song is kind of ironic.
This is not a song about independence. It’s a song about dependence and jealousy. And it’s shallow and materialistic. It doesn’t speak a word of, “Hey, you can make it on your own a single lady.” It says “You’ll find a guy that will own you and give you a ring eventually.” And it doesn’t even deliver that backwards, messed up message well.

Zeitgeist: Addendum

One of the most informative and educational videos I have ever watched. Please take some time to watch it yourself. I honestly feel that the more people who see this, the better off the world will be.
Don’t take it all to heart and decide that you should or shouldn’t agree with everything being said. Take it in as information and view it as another perspective. It truly is eye opening. It’s also pretty long, so be prepared to sit and watch for a while. Cheers.
The first film is worth watching as well…
Regarding Healthcare…
by Danny Infinite on Sep.04, 2009, under Culture
I recently wrote this to someone, I don’t know him, I just read his comments on a Facebook post. He feels that he should not have to carry the burden of others and feels that the health insurance system we have currently is fine…
Kenny, I’m happy to hear that you are doing well enough financially to get the health care that you need. I also appreciate your concern. However, I very strongly disagree with your perspective. Why should a single mother waitress be unable to get health care because she can’t afford it? What about 20 somethings working in coffee shops and bookstores? We have a huge population of people in this country who are unable to get healthcare. This isn’t because they’re all lazy or ignorant, it’s because life has dealt a lot of them bad hands and they were unable to achieve the degree of success that you yourself have, or haven’t gotten there yet. Why should an insurance company be able to dictate to a dying person the amount of health care they are allowed to receive or deny service due to pre-existing conditions? It’s a cruel and ruthless industry called HEALTH CARE. Explain that to me. Those two words as far as I know are supposed to define well being and support.

So, every once in a while you hear a song that actually makes you think and might even shift your perspective. K’naan, a Somalian emcee, makes some great points about perspective here. What we as a culture consider to be “hardcore” begins to feel more like a game after listening to this. I have already felt that, what some consider “hardcore” hip hop or gangster rap, had lost it’s point and was pretty irrelevant. However, it wasn’t very easy to explain why, even to myself. Well, here you go. I couldn’t have said it better my self, because honestly, I’m just not that hardcore…
